Booking terms and cancellation policy

Clear rules in plain words, so you know exactly what happens before you pay anything.

Last updated: October 2026

In short

  • A 25% deposit confirms your booking
  • Full refund, minus bank fees, if you cancel 30 days or more before arrival
  • Day trips and transfers: free cancellation up to 48 hours before
  • Pay the rest a week before arrival, or in cash when you arrive

1. Booking and confirmation

Every trip starts with a written plan and price, valid for 7 days. Your booking is confirmed once we receive your 25% deposit and send you a written confirmation.

2. Payment

Pay a 25% deposit by bank transfer when you book. Pay the balance by bank transfer at least 7 days before you arrive, or in cash (US dollars, euros or Egyptian pounds) on your first day. Bank transfer fees are paid by the sender.

3. Prices

Prices are per person, based on two travellers sharing, and set in US dollars. Other currencies are shown at today's exchange rate as a guide. Once your booking is confirmed your price is fixed, unless the government raises entrance fees or taxes; we pass those on at cost and tell you first.

4. If you cancel

Multi-day tours and Nile cruises:

When you cancelWhat you pay
30 days or more before arrivalNothing. Full refund, minus bank fees
15 to 29 days before arrival25% of the trip price (your deposit)
7 to 14 days before arrival50% of the trip price
Less than 7 days, or no-show100% of the trip price

Day trips, experiences and transfers: free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start time. Later cancellations and no-shows are charged in full.

Over Christmas, New Year and Easter, some hotels and Nile cruises apply stricter rules. If that affects your trip, we tell you in writing before you pay.

5. Changes to your trip

You can change anything for free until you confirm. After that we do our best to make changes; if a change costs more, for example a different hotel, we tell you the difference before we make it.

6. If we must change or cancel

Very rarely, weather, safety, official closures or events beyond our control may change a plan. We then offer an alternative of equal or higher value, or refund the services you could not use. If the authorities cancel a hot air balloon flight because of the weather, you get a full refund or a new date.

7. Flights, trains and cruise ships

Domestic flights, sleeper trains and Nile cruise ships follow their own rules for changes and refunds. We tell you these before you book and apply them if you cancel.

8. Passports, visas and insurance

You are responsible for a passport valid for at least 6 months and the right visa for your nationality. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation and medical costs.

9. During your trip

Please follow your guide's safety advice and dress respectfully at mosques and churches. We are not responsible for personal belongings, or for costs caused by delays of airlines or other carriers outside our control.

10. Feedback and complaints

If anything is not right, tell us during the trip so we can fix it straight away. Any complaint after the trip should reach us in writing within 14 days.

11. Your privacy

We use your details only to arrange your trip and share them only with the hotels, drivers and guides who need them. We never sell your data.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
